Now, the two-wheeler giant has also confirmed the launch of the Victor BS6.

TVS Victor review still side
The TVS Victor has always been a trustworthy two-wheeler, just like the other commuters motorcycles from TVS.

TVS has recently released a 12-page document in which it has listed its complete BS6 product line-up that consists of the TVS Apache RTR 160, TVS Apache RTR 180, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, TVS Apache RR 310, TVS Jupiter, TVS NTorq 125, TVS Scooty Pep+, TVS XL 100, TVS Sport, TVS Start City+ and TVS Radeon.

In the press document, TVS has also mentioned that it will soon share the updated details of the Victor and Zest 110, the only two models in the company’s product range which haven't received their BS6 update yet. This indicates that along with the TVS Scooty Zest 110 BS6 and the TVS Victor BS6 will be launched in the near future.

The TVS Victor has always been a trustworthy two-wheeler, just like the other commuters motorcycles from TVS. In its BS4 state of tune, the Victor used a 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine which produced 9.6 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 9.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The air-cooled mill was mated to a 4-speed gearbox. Expect to see slight variants in the power and torque output figures with the addition of electronic fuel injection in the TVS Victor BS6.

Features such as the semi-digital instrument cluster, hazard lamps, pilot lamps, stylish exhaust, long and spacious seat, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, are expected to be carried forward. We wouldn’t be surprised if TVS introduces some new features and colour options as well along with the BS6 engine.

Best affordable beginner bikes for new riders - IAB Picks https://indianautosblog.com/best-affordable-beginner-bikes-for-new-riders-p318246 Sat, 24 Aug 2019 06:00:08 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=318246 It is wonderful to ride a motorcycle. Not only they are affordable to buy and maintain but also energy efficient. Also, the freedom of changing gears offers satisfaction and performance depending on the riding terrain. India is big on motorcycles. In fact, in the last financial year, two-wheeler sales volumes (domestic) stood at 14.40 lakh units. Of these, 9.82 lakh units were motorcycles, the majority being entry-level, beginner motorcycles. Here is a list of 5 of our favourite accessible beginner motorcycles. For the sake of keeping things tidy, all these bikes have a starting sticker price of less than INR 70,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Honda Livo: Japan’s answer to premium 110 cc motorcycles

2018 Honda Livo press right side
The Honda Livo is retailed in 4 colour options and has a starting price tag of INR 58,216 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Introduced first in 2015, Honda Livo is our favourite entry-level beginner motorcycle. Replacing the CB Twister, the Livo is Honda's most premium 110 cc product. The simply designed bike gets a 3-D Honda Wing badging on the fuel tank extension. Also, the large Livo brand stickering on the fuel tank is a great add-on now. Besides that, the twin-pod instrument console includes a digital-analogue meter with built-in service due indicator and clock.

The Honda Livo is shod with Honda’s patented low rolling resistance tyres which increase fuel efficiency. The bike’s rear suspension involves twin springs with 5-step adjustability for preload. The Honda Livo is powered by a 109.19 cc engine which produces 8.4 PS of power and 9.09 Nm of torque. Its gearbox is a 4-speed unit. The braking setup includes 130 mm drum unit (as standard)/ 240 mm disc with Nissin calliper (as an option). During our review, the optional disc brake added serious bite and has got us out of quite a few hairy situations.

Apart from great looks, the Honda Livo is easy to ride with accessible power output. Also, the bike easily returns more than 60 km to a litre of petrol. Besides that, it has a low seat height of 673 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. A low seat height makes it easy to hop on and off the bike, while a high ground clearance means the bike can take on difficult terrain.

Colour options for the Honda Livo include Athletic Blue Metallic, Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Sunset Brown Metallic. The Honda Livo has a price tag of INR 58,216 for the drum brake version and INR 60,627 for disc brake version (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

TVS Victor: Premium commuting for everyday rides

TVS Victor review still side
The TVS Victor is offered in 6 colours and starts at INR 54,682 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Muscular looks, peppy engine, comfortable seat and easy finance options - the TVS Victor has it all. It is the first bike in its segment to get feature LED daytime running lights. Its rear suspension includes twin springs with comfort-focused series spring setup, as well as 5-step adjustable preload. The TVS Victor has one of the most spacious and relaxed seats in the segment.

Powering the TVS Victor is a 109.7 cc 3V Ecothrust mill producing 9.6 PS of power and 9.4 Nm of torque. This engine is linked to a 4-speed gearbox. Also, the TVS Victor has a ground clearance of 175 mm. Brakes include a 130 mm drum (as standard)/240 mm disc (as an option) up front and 110 mm drum in the rear.

The TVS Victor offers a hazard lamp switch on the right handlebar, usually where you see the engine kill switch. However, in our testing, it happened several times that we accidentally switched on the hazard lamps at a traffic signal instead of switching off the engine.

The TVS Victor has a peppy engine with one of the best sounding exhaust notes in the segment. Colour options include Blissful Blue, Generous Grey, Beatific Black Silver, Serene Silver, Restful Red and Balanced Black Red. The standard variant is priced at INR 54,682 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the disc brake variant costs a couple of grand more.

The Hero Splendor iSmart+ is offered in 4 dual-tone colour options and has a starting sticker price of INR 57,430 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Hero Splendor iSmart+ features a split grab rail and all-black alloy wheels and engine that add a certain level of charm. Mated to a 4-speed gearbox, the engine produces 9.5 PS of power and 9 Nm of torque.

New riders will love the ‘Fill it, Shut it, Forget it’ attitude of the Hero Splendor iSmart+. The Hero Splendor iSmart+ is available only in dual colours: Techno Blue, Sports Red, Leaf Green and Jet Black. It costs INR 57,430 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Right Side
Available in 3 colour options, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 has a starting price of INR 64,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

To beat the recent economic slump, Bajaj has taken the design of the classic Pulsar 150 and plonked in a 125 cc engine. The now-iconic muscular fuel tank gets a dash of neon to attract a younger audience. The rear section of the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon bears the familiar split LED taillamp.

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon is powered by a 124.4 cc twin-spark, DTS-i mill. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine can squeeze out 12 PS of power and 11 Nm of torque. Besides that, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon gets the same twin gas-charged springs at the rear. The ground clearance is a healthy 165 mm. Also, the brakes include a 170 mm drum at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear. There is an option for a 240 mm front disc brake, though.

Colour options for the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon include Neon Blue (on Matte Black body), Solar Red and Platinum Silver. The Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon has a starting sticker price of INR 64,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the drum brake option. However, a disc brake option will set you back by INR 2,618.

TVS Victor with SBT launched at INR 54,682 https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-victor-with-sbt-launched-at-inr-54-682-p316907 Wed, 03 Apr 2019 04:15:18 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=316907 TVS has announced the introduction of Synchronized Braking Technology (SBT) in the Victor in India. SBT is essentially TVS' answer to the new mandate of Combined Braking System in all two-wheelers below 125 cc. By virtue of this technology, the front brake is engaged automatically when a rider uses the rear brake.

TVS Victor Premium Edition front right quarter
The TVS Victor with Synchronized Braking Technology costs INR 54,682 (ex-Delhi) onwards.

Synchronized Braking Technology helps to reduce the braking distance of the motorcycle. TVS claims that the introduction of this technology will help in reducing the braking distance by 10%. SBT ensures that the front brake is automatically engaged when a rider uses the rear brake.

At the heart of the TVS Victor is the same old 110 cc single-cylinder engine. Mated to a 4-speed gearbox, it produces 9.5 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 9.4 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike is suspended on telescopic forks in the front and (5-step) adjustable twin hydraulic springs in the rear.

TVS premium commuter bike 'Radeon' teased ahead of launch today https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-110-cc-commuter-bike-teased-india-launch-p313862 Thu, 23 Aug 2018 06:04:32 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=313862 TVS Motor Company has released a new teaser of the upcoming commuter motorcycle which is to launch this afternoon. The teaser image shows the fuel tank silhouette of the new bike the tagline of which is ‘The strong rules the road.’

TVS 110 cc premium commuter motorcycle

According to earlier reports, the teased bike will be a 110 cc commuter positioned above the TVS Victor and the TVS Star City Plus. The new premium commuter is likely to feature an all-digital instrument cluster, which will be borrowed from the TVS Ntorq 125. Like the sporty scooter, the new motorcycle's console will offer Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation.

The TVS 110 cc premium commuter motorcycle is likely to share the 109.7 cc motor with the TVS Victor. The single-cylinder, air-cooled engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 9.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and generating a peak torque of 9.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and delivers a fuel economy of 72 km/l.

The new motorcycle is likely to feature a new design language, which could be on the lines of a cruiser motorcycle. That said, it is expected to share its underpinnings with the TVS Victor. The bike is likely to use a single-cradle tubular chassis to suspend the engine as a stressed member. Telescopic front forks and adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear are likely to perform suspensions duties on the bike.

The TVS premium commuter could feature 17-inch alloy wheels, a disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. While the Victor gets a front disc brake as an option, the new bike could receive it as a standard fitment.

The TVS Victor is priced at INR 53,295 (ex-Showroom, New Delhi), and with the premium design and features, the upcoming motorcycle could have a circa-INR 60,000 (ex-showroom) price tag.

TVS to launch a 110cc commuter bike on August 23 - Report https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-new-commuter-bike-p312866 Tue, 14 Aug 2018 11:19:45 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=312866 According to NDTV, TVS Motor Company will launch an all-new motorcycle on August 23, and not the iQube hybrid scooter. The report states that the bike will be a 110 cc commuter to bolster the low-end portfolio of TVS, which currently includes the TVS Victor and TVS Star City Plus.

TVS Victor Premium Edition Matte Blue press right side
The new motorcycle will reportedly share its engine with the TVS Victor (pictured). We'll get to know soon if TVS is using 'Radeon' for its new bike.

The publication cites sources in stating that the new motorcycle will boast features such as an all-digital instrument cluster, a dedicated app and satellite navigation connectivity, similar to the TVS NTorq scooter. Though media reports said TVS will launch a 125 cc product, NDTV's report firmly says the motorcycle in question will be a 110 cc offering, likely sharing its engine with the TVS Victor. The engine in question is a single-cylinder, air-cooled 109.7 cc unit developing 9.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 9.4 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine delivers a claimed 72 km/l mileage on the Victor.

The report also says that the motorcycle will have a new design language previously unseen on any TVS motorcycle. However, it is logical to expect the motorcycle to share its underpinnings with the Victor, which is based on a single cradle tubular frame chassis with telescopic suspension at the front and 5-step adjustable springs at the rear.

TVS Motor will almost certainly offer an optional disc brake variant, if not standardizing this safety feature. On the Victor, customers can opt for a 240 mm disc at the front, if not, a 130 mm drum at the front and a 110 mm drum at the rear are standard.

The Victor's engine makes 9.5 bhp and 9.4 Nm of torque and claims a fuel efficiency of 72 km/l.

TVS Victor Road Test Review https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-victor-road-test-review-p270439 Tue, 27 Jun 2017 07:12:34 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=270439 The Indian commuter segment (two-wheelers) is the most challenging section of the market to crack. For years the segment has been synonymous with products first from Hero Honda and now, Hero MotoCorp. There though, have been motorcycles which might not have been able to dent Hero’s volumes, but have left a memory. The TVS Victor is one such brand name.

TVS Victor review still side
The TVS Victor has a minimum use of decals which makes the bike look understatedly stylish. The 3D badging also helps.

While it may still be some distance away from its true glory (volume wise), the numbers are slowly getting there. Reviewing a commuter motorcycle has its perks as well as cons. Going below a certain power output means that you compromise on certain hardware which enthusiasts take for granted. The TVS Victor thankfully does not make you feel alienated.

The powerplant is 3-valve, 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine which produces 9.6 PS of power and 9.4 Nm of torque. Both the numbers are more than my segment leader Hero Splendor but does it feel so? Well the TVS Victor did seem to have an edge in terms of top end but the that’s not where 99.9 percent of TVS Victor customers will ride.

TVS Victor review still engine and brake lever
The TVS Victor is powered by a 109.7 cc 3-valve engine coupled to a 4-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 9.6 PS of power and 9.4 Nm of torque.

Riding the TVS Victor in the low and mid-range is a breeze. Pulling off from a standstill at traffic signals will leave most folks behind. The EcoThrust technology manages to pull the bike’s 113 kg kerb weight and my 80 kg weight effortlessly. The body appears bigger than a run of the mill 100-110 cc motorcycle and the styling has been borrowed from the TVS Star City+. The instrumentation console though has been redesigned.

Things remain comfortable till 5,000 rpm, and that is when vibrations start kicking in. The footpegs bear the major brunt while things start going out of hand at 8,000 rpm. Thankfully the power output peaks before that but riding the TVS Victor is fun between 3,000 to around 5,500 rpm. The seat is very comfortable and commuting in peak rush hour traffic will not leave you wriggling to find the right posture. Pillion seat comfort has also been kept in mind, but vibrations are more apparent on the rear footpeg (at high engine speeds). Overall seating comfort is true to TVS’ claim of best in class.

TVS Victor review motion side lean
The TVS Victor gets new TVS Remora tyres, which is the best piece of equipment on the bike, and grips better the Ceat Secura branded tyres usually seen in the segment.

The gearbox is fun to ride and there are no false neutrals. I would have liked having a 1Down all Up shift pattern but the all Up shift pattern always is synonymous with commuters. The Econometer kicks in around 4,500 to 5,000 rpm, and while I spent most of my time with the TVS Victor in the Red (Power mode), it still managed to return me a real-world efficiency of 50 km/l. Going a bit easy on the throttle will certainly hit the 55+ km/l mark.

Flicking the bike around in traffic is easy, and traffic woes will not leave you in sweat. The TVS Victor gets a 5-step adjustable ‘Series Spring’ suspension in the rear which along with the front telescopic setup gobbles up the bumps an average Indian city street has to offer. While Delhi has some of the best roads in the country, I even took the Victor to Old Gurgaon to get a feel of the lunar craters they have. The Victor passed the torture test with flying colours. An hour-long session in Old Delhi traffic too didn’t make me raise any eyebrows. Segment-best tyres also help in keeping confidence levels high.

TVS Victor review motion front
In city commuting, even during peak rush hour traffic, is a breeze on the TVS Victor. The engine does not heat up uncomfortably.

The mix of an analogue tachometer and an LCD screen adds to the premium image. The fuel gauge has been integrated into the tacho dial and the LCD screen boasts of a service reminder, a speedometer, an odometer and trip meter. The inclusion of hazard lights is not a regular find in the segment and is a pretty nifty inclusion, but the position of the switch on the right handlebar left me confusing it as an engine kill switch. That is also something which the bike misses out on.

Neither does it get an integrated clock in the instrumentation. While that may not be a deal breaker for many but all two-wheelers should have a clock as standard fitment. The optional disc brake in the TVS Victor will save the day, but it is not in the same league of the Nissin caliper in the Honda Livo. The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 though completely misses out on a disc brake. The petal ventilated disc even adds to the looks (now that is something which you do not read every day).

TVS Victor review still front disc
The optional front disc brake is a nifty add-on, definitely recommended over the drum brake version.

The TVS Victor is available in 6 shades, and the minimum use of decals makes the bike look good. The switchgear quality is premium, and the 60-watt headlamp is a boon for night rides. The new TVS Remora tyres in the Victor are grippy and has certainly left me impressed. However, I could not test the tyres in wet but I expect them to perform significantly better.

The 60-watt headlamp can be safely called as best in class, and can give several products in segments above the TVS Victor, a run for its money. Combine this with the well-rounded handling capabilities of the TVS Victor and all my midnight cravings were easily satisfied with a long ride to an all-night fast food joint.

TVS Victor review motion rear three quarter lean
At INR 54,015, the TVS Victor is not just priced lower than the segment best product, but is also a worthy challenger and comes close to unseating it.

So, good looks, great handling, extremely comfortable seat and best in class tyres. However, should you buy it over the competition? With a price tag of INR 52,015 for the drum brake variant and INR 54,015 for the front disc brake (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi) it is around INR 2,500 to INR 3,000 cheaper than the Honda Livo and INR 3,500 cheaper than the Hero Splendor. A difference of 3,000 bucks is certainly a number which matters in the commuter segment but if you are after comfort and performance, look no further.

TVS Motor Company has scheduled the launch of the TVS Victor on January 20, according to a report on Autocar Professional. The model will share its stage with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V on the day.

The previous TVS Victor, which was introduced in 2001, was the company's first self-developed motorcycle.

The new Victor, like the previous model, is expected to be a 100-110 cc segment commuter. It is likely that it will share the powertrain from the TVS Star City+ and be positioned above it in terms of value and pricing. The model is intended to hike the company's market share in this segment, which is currently 17 percent courtesy of three models - the TVS Max4R, the TVS Sport and the TVS Star City+.

In the April-November period of 2015, the size of the 75-110 cc commuter segment was 46,14,850 units which is a drop of 5.21 percent over the same period of 2014. TVS's competitors including Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India offer a wide and updated range of products in this category while Bajaj Auto is more active on the products in and above the 125 cc segment.

3 launches from TVS in 6 months, Victor relaunch by January 2016 - Report https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-victor-tvs-apache-200-cc-6-months-launch-p186073 Wed, 05 Aug 2015 07:08:13 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=186073 Draken-Based TVS Apache 200 cc also included.

TVS Motors, at their recently held 23rd Annual General Meeting, announced that they would be launching three new products in the next six months. This information was given by Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motor Company. The launches will be the born-again TVS Victor, TVS Apache 200 cc, and a four-stroke moped.

TVS Draken - X21 concept front three quarters
The TVS Draken concept will form the basis of the 2015 TVS Apache 200 cc.

TVS showcased the Draken-X21 concept at the Auto Expo 2014. This concept will form the basis of the Apache 200 cc and will share many parts with it. Not much detail is available, but expect the bike to have a power output close to 25 bhp from a single cylinder 200 cc engine. It will directly rival the Pulsar range of 200 cc bikes from Bajaj.

The well recognized Victor nameplate will be resurrected to lift the fortunes of TVS in the entry-level commuter segment. The new Victor will probably get the existing 110 cc, air-cooled 'Ecothrust' engine found in the Star City. The motorcycle will be positioned just below the Phoenix 125 and will be tuned more towards fuel economy.

A four-stroke moped is also in the offing. This will likely be a successor to the TVS XL which still utilizes an older 70 cc two-stroke engine that is capable of 3.5 bhp and 7 Nm of torque. Last month, the XL became only the second two-wheeler to cross the 1 crore sales mark after the legendary Hero Honda Splendor. The company came out with a special edition variant to commemorate the milestone with cosmetic changes such as chrome finished grab rail and an exhaust guard with a 1 crore celebration sticker on it.

In the AGM meeting, TVS also stated that its sales increased 20.9 per cent over FY 2013-14. Its market share has increased from 11.8 to 13.2 per cent this year. With these impending launches the company is looking all set to further consolidate its position in 2016.
