It’s to be noted that the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V received an update last year. Several segment-first features were added including adjustable levers, adjustable front suspension, and also riding modes. The motorcycle has 3 riding modes - Sport, Urban, and Rain. The oil-cooled engine of the Apache RTR 200 4V produces 20.82 PS at 9,000 rpm and 17.25 Nm at 7,250 rpm in the Sport mode whereas, in the Urban and Rain mode, it delivers 17.32 PS at 7,800 rpm and 16.51 Nm at 5,750 rpm. However, we feel that the bike could have reached a higher figure if it was pushed a little more and the rider had crouched to avoid some wind buffeting. Don’t you think?

TVS Apache RTR 160 Supermoto Version Digitally Conceptualised https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-apache-rtr-160-supermoto-render-p323605 Thu, 20 May 2021 02:30:23 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323605 The TVS Apache RTR 160 has always been a performer. It ticked almost all the right boxes to be a brilliant street motorcycle for the Indian market, although its styling hasn’t been its prime forte. Considering its peppy performance, capable chassis, and nimble handling characteristics, we always thought that the Apache RTR 160 could be much more than a naked streetfighter. Perhaps, a Supermoto bike? Here’s a digital representation of the same.

Tvs Apache Rtr 160 Supermoto Render

An automotive artist with an Instagram handle “Abin Designs” has digitally conceptualised the TVS Apache RTR 160 Supermoto version. We can see in the rendering that even though the motorcycle has a new appearance and stance, it doesn’t fail to remind us about its parent model. Some of the eye-catching features of this Supermoto machine include golden USD forks at the front, knuckle guards, wider tyres, and redesigned exhaust.

Also Read: TVS Apache RTR 180 Transformed into Aggressive Streetfighter - Rendering

The front end of the TVS Apache RTR 160 Supermoto version in the rendering flaunts its reasonably-sized halogen headlamp with integrated LED DRLs. They are quite similar to the ones which we can find in the actual Apache RTR 160. Other parts that have been carried forward from the stock motorcycle include the fuel tank, belly pan, seat, split pillion grab rails, and tail tidy.

Tvs Apache Rtr 160 4v Bs Vi

We like how the small beak, blacked-out fender, redesigned visor, and golden USD forks give the TVS Apache RTR 160 Supermoto version a bold and muscular look. The new exhaust system also imparts a sportier visual appeal. The twin rear shock absorbers have been replaced by a monoshock. The swingarm has been altered as well. For the brakes, the front rotor remains unchanged, however, the radial caliper installed is new.

Overall, we find the Supermoto version of the TVS Apache RTR 160 to be pretty impressive. It certainly is an attention-seeker. The changes that have been implemented suit the character of the motorcycle well. What do you have to say about this concept? Drop a comment below and let us know.

TVS Apache RTR 180 Transformed into Aggressive Streetfighter - Rendering https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-apache-rtr-180-streetfighter-rendering-p323080 Tue, 06 Apr 2021 04:00:46 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323080 When it comes to performance, the TVS Apache RTR 180 gives some serious competition to its rivals such as the Bajaj Pulsar 180 and the Honda Hornet 2.0. Its 177.4cc single-cylinder engine pumps out 16.79PS of max power and 15.5Nm of peak torque that provides all the grunt the motorcycle needs to give its opponents a hard time. However, perhaps, we can’t say the same thing with confidence if we bring aesthetics into the equation.

Tvs Apache Rtr 180 Render
The TVS Apache RTR 180 looks like an aggressive streetfighter in this digital rendering.

Of course, the design of the TVS Apache RTR 180 serves multiple purposes other than cosmetically uplifting the motorcycle, which it doesn’t, by the way. For instance, the large fuel tank extensions are said to channel air towards the engine and help maintain optimal operating temperatures. But they look disproportionate. The hard truth is that the Apache RTR 180 fails to attract many eyeballs; unlike this digital rendering that has been created by “Abin Designs”. While this layout might not be feasible in the real world, it surely enhances the motorcycle’s visual appeal.

Also Read: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Fitted w/ Xpulse Suspension, NS200 Carb & More

In this digital rendering, we can see that the front end of the TVS Apache RTR 180 has been lowered down a bit for a sportier stance. The shape of the headlamp has been altered that imparts a sharper face to the motorcycle. And to match this trait, the fuel tank extensions have been revised accordingly. The new shape of the fuel tank hints at different rider ergonomics. To add more sportiness, the tail section has been raised and the upswept angle of the exhaust has been changed.

Tvs Apache Rtr 180 Naked Streetfighter Render
Which one of these two designs do you like?

Careful observation of the TVS Apache RTR 180 rendering reveals that the front braking system consists of two rotors. The conventional telescopic front forks have been replaced by a pair of USDs. Similarly, the rear twin shock absorbers have given away for a monoshock unit. We can also see that the alloy wheels are different, the rear section is revamped and missing a fender, and the tyres appear a bit wider.

We find this rendering of the TVS Apache RTR 180 to be attention-grabbing. What do you guys make of it? Share your opinions with us in the comments section below.

TVS Apache RR 310 vs Bajaj Dominar 400 - Drag Race of Flagships https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-apache-rr-310-vs-bajaj-dominar-400-drag-race-p323048 Fri, 02 Apr 2021 05:00:48 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323048 The Apache RR 310 and Dominar 400 are the flagship models of TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto respectively. On one hand, both motorcycles are loaded with features up to the brim and offer commendable performance, on the other hand, they are also quite different from each other. The Apache is a fully-faired sportbike whereas the Dominar is a naked machine known for its touring capabilities. So, what would happen when these two motorcycles, hailing from different categories, are put up against each other for a drag race? Let’s find out in the video below.

We can see in the video, that has been uploaded by YouTuber “Rough rider azam”, that some modifications have been made to both motorcycles. For instance, the Bajaj Dominar 400 here has a new windscreen that is much longer than the stock one. And the TVS Apache RR 310 is running an aftermarket slip-on exhaust that might have resulted in some performance gain.

Also Read: TVS Apache RR 310 Makes Interesting Comeback in Drag Race w/ KTM RC 390

In the first drag race attempt, the Dominar 400 rider pops a wheelie during the start and hence, loses out crucial time. As a result, the Apache RR 310 gets ahead and takes the lead. It continues to gain speed and increase the gap. We can see in the footage that the Apache clocked around 168-170km/h. Even though the Dominar 400 is able to touch a slightly higher top speed, it fails to catch its opponent. So, the outcome of the first drag race is that the Apache RTR 310 wins.

For the second drag race attempt, the riders switch motorcycles. This time, both motorcycles have a good launch. This clearly shows how significant rider’s skills are in such races. We can see that the Dominar 400 gives a tough time to the Apache until it reaches around 130km/h. After that, the RR 310 takes the lead and remains at the front until the end of the race.

So, the Apache RR 310 wins both the drag races. Its 312.2cc engine producing 34PS and 27.3Nm helped it to beat the Dominar 400. Even though the 373.3cc engine of the Dominar churns out more power and torque (40PS and 35Nm), perhaps, it’s the motorcycle’s 187kg kerb weight that acted as a disadvantage here. The Apache is around 10kg lighter.

New TVS Apache RTR 160 4V - How is it Lighter than Previous Model? https://indianautosblog.com/tvs-apache-rtr-160-4v-why-lighter-p322848 Sun, 14 Mar 2021 06:30:38 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322848 The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V recently received an update for MY2021. The Hosur-based company made the already potent motorcycle even better by implementing some changes which have led to a weight reduction of 2kg. What were those changes? Let’s find out.

The overall design, style, and features of the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V are identical to those of the outgoing model. However, TVS Motor Company has managed to reduce the weight of the new motorcycle by 2kg. The disc brake variant of the updated model weighs 147kg whereas the drum brake variant tips the scale at 145kg. Previously, these variants weighed 149kg and 147kg respectively.

Also Read: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Single-Channel ABS Model Updated

What did TVS Motor Company do to achieve this weight reduction? The company has said that to attain this goal, it has used a much lighter and expensive metal for the swingarm of the new Apache RTR 160 4V. The company has also made certain alterations to extract out more power from the 159.7cc single-cylinder engine. The oil-cooled motor now produces 17.63PS of max power at 9250rpm and 14.73Nm of peak torque at 7250rpm. In comparison, previously it was tuned to churn out a max power of 16.02PS at 8250rpm and 14.12Nm of peak torque which kicked in at 7250rpm.

With the reduction in weight and increase in power and torque, the performance, fuel economy, and handling of the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V should have improved by some margin. We’d need to ride and test the updated model to notice any differences. So stay tuned to IndianAutosBlog for that and more.

Hero Xtreme 160R vs TVS Apache RTR 160 - Top-End Performance Test https://indianautosblog.com/hero-xtreme-160r-vs-tvs-apache-rtr-160-long-drag-race-p322664 Sun, 28 Feb 2021 07:30:40 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322664 Hero MotoCorp has done a fantastic job with the Xtreme 160R. We were quite impressed with this motorcycle when we reviewed it last year. It has got the looks, features, and performance to give a good fight to its rivals. Speaking of, the Hero Xtreme 160R faces direct competition from the TVS Apache RTR 160, one of the well-established models in the segment. So, which one of these two motorcycles has a better top-end performance? The video below tries to answer this question.

The video shows a top-end performance test between the Hero Xtreme 160R and TVS Apache RTR 160. Two long drag races are conducted. In the first attempt, the Apache gets off the mark quickly and takes the lead. It continues to increase the gap and within a few seconds reaches a top speed of 124km/h and leaves the Xtreme behind, which could achieve 118km/h. For the second run, the riders switch motorcycles. Again, the RTR 160 takes charge. Although the Xtreme 160R tries hard, he couldn’t just keep up with the TVS.

On paper, the Apache RTR 160 is slightly more powerful than the Xtreme 160R. The former has 15.52PS of max power and 13.9Nm of peak torque whereas the latter has 15PS and 14Nm. Following is the spec sheet of both bikes.

Can Yamaha R15 v3 Beat TVS Apache RTR 200 4V in Long Drag Race? https://indianautosblog.com/yamaha-r15-v3-tvs-apache-rtr-200-4v-drag-race-p322556 Wed, 10 Feb 2021 10:30:33 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322556 Yamaha R15 v3 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, they are like chalk and cheese. They belong to different segments and are from totally different categories. The former is a fully-faired motorcycle whereas the latter is a naked streetfighter. Perhaps, the only thing common between the two is sheer performance. So, can the smaller-capacity R15 v3 beat the more powerful Apache RTR 200 4V in a long drag race? The following video answers the question.

The video has been uploaded by YouTuber KSC Vlogs. We can see in the footage that two long drag races have been conducted. In the first attempt, the Apache RTR 200 4V gets off the line instantly and takes the lead. Its 20.5PS of max power and 16.8Nm of peak torque help it to create a decent gap with the Yamaha.

A few seconds later, however, the R15 v3 catches up and overtakes the Apache, thanks to its superior aerodynamic design. The Yamaha continues to pull up to 136km/h after which the speed gain becomes almost negligible. Meanwhile, TVS rider uses slipstream to his advantage, achieves a top speed of 143km/h, closes the gap, and comes right at the tail of the R15. However, as soon as he gets out from the slipstream he starts to lose speed and fails to get past the Yamaha rider, perhaps, because of the windblast that he must be tackling.

For the second attempt, the riders switch motorcycles. Again, the Apache is the first to take off and after a few seconds into the race, the R15 becomes the leader. And this continues to be the case until the race ends.

So, in both the attempts the Yamaha R15 v3 comes out to be the winner. This does not mean that the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is not quick enough. It is. It’s just that the R15 is a fully-faired motorcycle with much better aerodynamic efficiency when compared to that of the naked Apache.

Following is the spec sheet of both the bikes for your reference:

Specifications Yamaha R15 v3 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
