TVS has increased the prices of both the variants by INR 750. The specifications and features of the commuter motorcycle remain the same as before.

TVS Sport BS6 Specs

One of the main highlights of the TVS Sport BS6 is the new engine. It is a 109.7 cc single-cylinder mill which comes equipped with the Hosur-based company’s ETFi (Eco Thrust Fuel injection) technology that ensures enhanced performance and fuel economy. The air-cooled powerplant churns out 6.1 kW or 8.29 PS of maximum power at 7,350 rpm and 8.7 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. It is linked to a 4-speed gearbox. TVS claims that the new Sport BS6 is 15% more fuel-efficient than the BS4 version.

First of all, the TVS Sport BS6 model features a new 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine. This air-cooled mill comes with a fuel-injection system which TVS likes to call ETFi technology or Eco Thrust Fuel injection technology. This engine produces 8.29 PS of maximum power and 8.7 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the TVS Sport BS4 used to have a 99.7 cc engine that produced 7.48 PS and 7.5 Nm of torque. Like the old bike, the new bike has a 4-speed transmission.

The TVS Sport returned a fuel economy of 76.4 km/l during the 6,377 kilometres ride through the Indian Golden Quadrilateral.

The record was registered in India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. Pavitra Patro achieved the feat by riding the TVS Sport on the Indian Golden Quadrilateral. Patro covered a total of 6,377 kilometres through tough terrains and the surge of monsoon and registered an on-road mileage of 76.4 km/l. The ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ connects India’s four major metros – Delhi (North), Kolkata (East), Mumbai (West) and Chennai (South). The ride, which commenced on 31 July, concluded 20 days later, on 19 August 2019.

The 99.7 cc air-cooled, 2-valve Duralife engine on the TVS Sport makes 7.5 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and is linked to a four-speed transmission. The claimed fuel economy, as per TVS Motor Company Limited internal test, stands at 95 km/l. The motorcycle comes with an Econometer feature. The budget-friendly hardware setup includes drum brakes on both wheels (130 cc front/110 mm rear, conventional telescopic forks at the front and five-step adjustable, twin-sided rear shock absorbers). The motorcycle comes with a 5-year warranty.

The TVS Sport will be sold via 400 touchpoints in the country, said SV Nana Rau, Director Operations, TVS Lanka. Speaking about the launch of the motorcycle, Rau added:

We are happy to add the 100cc economy motorcycle TVS Sport to the extensive TVS Lanka product portfolio in Sri Lanka. The motorcycle will be available in over 400 touchpoints across the country with state-of-the-art service and spare facilities. We are confident it will find favour with customers.

Despite competing in the commuter segment, the TVS Sport looks quite appealing with its graphics and styling. Visual features on the motorcycle include sporty graphics, 3D Chrome logo and a long seat. The single-piece pillion grab-rail adds a nice contrast to the package and makes the bike look attractive.

The 100 cc motorcycle comes equipped with Economy and Power indicators on the instrument console. The mode indicators display when the motor delivering maximum fuel economy. The instrumentation is full-analogue with the speedometer and odometer sitting on the left side, while the fuel gauge, power mode and telltale indicators occupying the space on the right.

The commuter motorcycle is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 95 km/l (as per internal testing). With the 10-litre fuel tank, it should deliver a good range between fuel stops. The TVS Sport uses a 7.4 PS 99.7 cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, Duralife engine that comes linked to a 4-speed, constant mesh transmission. An electric starting system is standard.

Stopping power comes from 130 mm front and 110 mm rear drum brakes, while the safety net includes CBS tech, or as TVS calls it, Synchronized Braking Technology (SBT). The SBT activates the front and rear brakes simultaneously to offer optimum braking control and enhancing the safety. Shock absorption department is handled by telescopic forks at the front and five-step adjustable, twin-sided springs at the back.

Conventional telescopic front forks and 5-step adjustable twin sided rear shock absorber perform the suspension duties. The fuel tank capacity stands at 10-litre (2-litre reserve). With a full tank of fuel, the TVS Sport tips the weighing scale at 108.5 kg.

The website reports that the upcoming motorcycle may feature the TVS Sport’s engine. In the Sport, the 99.7 cc mill makes 7.4 PS at 7,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 4-speed gearbox. As per TVS’ internal testing, the bike’s efficiency stands at 95 km/l. Expect the commuter to have an upright riding position with a well-cushioned single piece seat. The upcoming motorcycle is speculated to use telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Brakes could be drum units on both ends in order to keep the costs under control.

The price of the TVS Sport starts from 38,513, ex-showroom, Delhi for the kick-start, spoke wheel version. The Prestige will reportedly cost around INR 45,000-50,000, ex-showroom. At that price range, it would rival Bajaj Platina, Hero HF Deluxe, Hero Splendor+, and Honda CD 110 Dream. Like the Sport, the Prestige is also likely to come with five-year warranty right out of the box. In a related development, the Hosur-based manufacturer is also working on two cruisers, based on the recently-unveiled Zeppelin Concept. The company will also be launching the Apache RTR 160 facelift soon.

The petrol tank can store 12-litre of fuel and the facility of econometer will help the rider extract a higher real world mileage.

The 2017 TVS Sport is suspended over standard telescopic forks up front and 5-step adjustable twin shocks in the rear. Brakes include a 130 mm drum in the front and a 110 mm unit in the rear. The bike measures 1,950 mm in length, 705 mm in width and has a height of 1,080 mm. The ground clearance of 170 mm will be a blessing in both rural and urban situations.

TVS Motor Company has launched an updated version of its commuter motorcycle, the TVS Sport. The model which earlier claimed a mileage of 87.7 km/l, now returns 95 km/l in the company's version of the standard drive cycle conditions.

The TVS Sport’s DuraLife Engine has been optimised for reduced friction and stress to achieve higher efficiency and lower fuel consumption. The motor features Chrome Plated Piston rings and Roller Cam follower for lesser operational friction. The ignition timing has been revised corresponding to the low overall dry mass, which also contributes to the improvement in mileage, says the company.

In addition, the entry-level motorcycle has been updated with new features and styling. It now has a sporty instrument cluster, all gear electric start, aluminum grab rail, and chrome muffler guard. The model is available in five colours, including red, blue, black, white and grey, all of which feature contrasting body graphics.
