2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey Flag Off

Returning after a hiatus of three years, this year, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey will see riders follow two different routes. While both groups will be flagged off from Delhi together, one group will ride to Ladakh via the picturesque Manali route and the other will traverse the rugged Sangla-Kaza route, before finally converging at Leh. Riding through Ladakh and Spiti will challenge the rider in terms of weather and terrain, while also experiencing an adventure of a lifetime.

Flagged off from the India Gate - New Delhi in the traditional Ladakhi ceremony, the riding contingent was blessed by Buddhist Lamas who chanted prayers to bless the riders at the flag-off ceremony. This year, participants for Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey congregated from across Singapore, Saudia Arabia, the USA, as well as from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Madurai, Delhi, Bangalore, Anantapur and Vijayawada, among others, to be a part of this epic ride.

2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey Bikes

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony Mohit Dhar Jayal, Chief Brand Officer, Royal Enfield, said, “The Himalayas are Royal Enfield’s spiritual home, and the Himalayan Odyssey is an ode to the undying spirit of exploration and motorcycling adventure since its inception in 1997. This edition marks a significant chapter in our endeavors to explore more as we travel to Umling La, the new highest motorable pass in the world. In 2019, we took a step towards reducing the plastic footprint with our #LeaveEveryPlaceBetter initiative and this year we continue our journey towards preserving and sustaining the delicate environment of the Himalayas with our ‘Responsible Travel’ initiative. We hope our efforts will help nurture an environmentally aware and conscientious community of riders and these 70 riders will become an inspiration for responsible motorcycle journeys, for other riders as well.”

June marks the start of the riding season in the Himalayas with thousands of riders traversing the Ladakh and Spiti region of the Himalayas. Royal Enfield has set up a comprehensive service network in the region that caters to the riders who require service support at 17,982 feet. Under this program called the ‘Leh Rider’s Support’ the company has nearly 66 service touch points across 6 routes with 175 skilled service technicians to ensure that the riders have a hassle-free riding experience throughout the riding season.

The expedition will follow two routes and while both the groups will be flagged off from Delhi together, each will ride on different routes before finally converging at Leh. Through the ride, the participants will traverse across the picturesque regions of the Himalayas in Ladakh as well as Spiti. While both the regions will throw hostile challenges at the riders in terms of weather and terrain, the riders will also get to experience an adventure like no other.

With a view to reducing the impact on the fragile ecosystem of the Himalayas, this edition of the Himalayan Odyssey will continue to bring awareness to the Royal Enfield journey of sustainability. While traversing through some of the roughest terrains, and highest mountain passes in the world, navigating through empty stretches of pristine landscape and rock-strewn pathways, this year the Himalayan Odyssey contingent will also be strongly propagating the concept of a sustainable motorcycle journey.

With this, the company now has three local CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units - in Argentina, and Colombia in Latin America, and in Thailand - in addition to the three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Chennai, India.

The local assembly unit in Thailand will be based at Gateway City Industrial Estate, Moo 7 Huasamrong, Plaengyao Chachoengsao. New Royal Enfield Himalayan Variant SPY VIDEO Surfaces Online https://indianautosblog.com/new-royal-enfield-himalayan-variant-spy-video-p324380 Mon, 20 Sep 2021 05:15:49 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=324380 The new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant has been spied testing once again. A new spy video of what seems to be a more affordable option of the dual-sport motorcycle has surfaced online giving us a good look at the model.

We can see in the spy video that the new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant is undergoing some sort of road testing. The motorcycle is being ridden on a two-lane highway. While the speed at which the two-wheeler is moving has not been recorded, we guess it might be cruising between 80-100 kmph.

The spy video first shows the rear end of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant and it looks similar to that of the current model. There is the same LED tail lamp accompanied by an identical set of turn signals. During the later part of the footage, the test mule has been captured from the right side angle which reveals key details of the upcoming motorcycle.

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant would not feature a rear rack for carrying luggage. It has been replaced by a compact pillion grab rail. Apart from that, other elements like the exhaust, side panels, split seats appear to be untouched. However, the front rack has been removed to give way for small fuel-tank shrouds that are likely to bear some graphics in the production-ready model.

Other changes on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant that we can see in the spy video include a minimal instrument cluster, perhaps, similar to the one that the company uses in the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The front fork gaiters are missing. The new model also has a redesigned headlight mask that imparts a cleaner look. It would also have a smaller front wheel when compared to the 21-inch unit in the current Himalayan.

Now, a new spy shot of the said model has surfaced online giving us a clearer view of the motorcycle.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan Variant Spy Shot Right

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant, which we can see in the spy image, has multiple changes when compared to the Himalayan that is currently on sale. For instance, this model is missing the front windscreen. It is also fitted with a minimal-looking instrument cluster that appears to be similar to what we have seen on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The new model also has a redesigned headlight mask that imparts a cleaner look.

Another major change in the new Royal Enfield Himalayan version is the front wheel. This one seems to be fitted with a smaller front wheel when compared to the 21-inch unit in the current Himalayan. Apart from that, there are no front racks. We can also see a new single-piece seat followed by a tail rack. The beak at the front of the motorcycle is also missing indicating that this version could be a road-biased trim.

As for the engine, previous spy shots hint that the new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant would be powered by the same 411cc single-cylinder motor that the company is using in the current model. However, the company might make some minor alterations to make the engine even smoother.

Considering all the aforementioned changes, it is being speculated that the new Royal Enfield Himalayan variant would be a road-focused model. It is also expected to be a more affordable option for the customers when compared to the current Himalayan whose ex-showroom price has crossed the INR 2 lakh mark.

Road-Focused Royal Enfield Himalayan Design Leaked via Clay Model https://indianautosblog.com/road-focused-royal-enfield-himalayan-design-leaked-p324163 Fri, 30 Jul 2021 11:45:19 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=324163 A few spy shots of a new Royal Enfield Himalayan has recently surfaced online suggesting that a road-focused version of the motorcycle is under development. Some key details of the upcoming two-wheeler have been revealed by the spy images. Now, a new picture has come to light showcasing the design of the road-focused Himalayan.

Road Focused Royal Enfield Himalayan Design Clay M

We can see in the image that the overall design of the road-focused Royal Enfield Himalayan would be similar to the current model that’s on sale. However, there are some noticeable differences. For instance, the road-focused model misses out on the large windscreen. It is also devoid of the front rack. Instead, there are tank shrouds present. We can see them in the picture bearing “411” numbering. The front wheel is also smaller.

Another big change in the road-focused Royal Enfield Himalayan is the instrument cluster. Instead of the busy and eye-catching setup from the current model, RE would use a simple arrangement, perhaps, similar to what we have seen on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. So, Tripper Navigation would be included. Since there’s no windscreen here, a redesigned headlight mask has been added for a cleaner look.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Mirage Silver Right

Apart from that, the pillion grab rail is different and there’s no rear luggage rack. The recently spied prototype did not have fork gaiters but it was fitted with hard case panniers. The clay model in the new picture is wearing fork gaiters but there are no panniers. This indicates that these parts are likely to be available as optional accessories.

With the omission of parts like the windscreen, front rack, and instrument cluster with multiple dials; and running a smaller front wheel, we believe that the price of the road-focused Royal Enfield Himalayan would be lesser compared to that of the current model. Perhaps, this would open doors for a wider range of customers to experience a Himalayan.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan Spied, Looks More Road-Focused https://indianautosblog.com/new-royal-enfield-himalayan-spied-road-focused-model-p324155 Thu, 29 Jul 2021 05:00:34 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=324155 A few spy shots have surfaced online suggesting that a new Royal Enfield Himalayan is under development. The prototype in the images has certain features that lead us to believe that it could be a road-focused version of the motorcycle.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan Spy Shot Right Side

It is quite evident in the spy shots that the Royal Enfield Himalayan undergoing road testing is missing a windshield. The motorcycle is also not fitted with fork gaiters. Another major change that we can see in the pictures is that the front wheel of the prototype appears to be of a smaller size than that of the current Himalayan which uses a 21-in setup.

While the shape of the fuel tank, rearview mirrors, headlight assembly, instrument cluster; all look the same, the front rack has been removed. It is replaced by tank shrouds. Apart from that, the exhaust, taillight, and side panels have been left untouched. We reckon, perhaps, the test mule is also wearing road-biased tyres instead of dual-purpose knobbier ones that we find in the present Royal Enfield Himalayan.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan Spy Shot Rear Right

All these aforementioned elements that have been revealed in the spy shots, points in the direction that this Royal Enfield Himalayan could indeed be a road-focused version. It would prove to be a good option for riders who wish to cover long distances on the tarmac and not take their motorcycle off-road; an area where the current Himalayan excels.

Details regarding the engine of the new Himalayan are not known as of now. It’s quite likely that Royal Enfield will use the same 411cc single that we see in the current model, however, the company might make some minor alterations to make the motor even smoother. We are expecting to see more spy shots of the Himalayan in its new avatar in the near future.

Royal Enfield Himalayan & Honda H’ness CB350 Merger - Yay or Nay? https://indianautosblog.com/royal-enfield-himalayan-honda-hness-cb350-merger-p323732 Sat, 29 May 2021 13:00:56 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323732 Just for the sake of curiosity, have you ever wondered how a Royal Enfield Himalayan and Honda H’ness CB350 amalgamation would look like? No? Neither have we. However, it seems that an automotive artist, that goes by the name “nv._designs” on Instagram, has. And to share his imagination with us, he has created a digital portrait of the same. Let’s check it out, shall we?

Himalayan Hness Cb350 Merger Render

To be honest, the output of the combination of the two motorcycles doesn’t look bad. We can see in the rendering that the artist has used the fuel tank, engine, side body panels, rear fender and the tail light setup of the Honda H’ness CB 350. In fact, the exhaust is also from the Honda but it has been given a larger upswept angle to suit the overall look of this rendered motorcycle.

From the Royal Enfield Himalayan, we have the headlight, front beak, handlebar, large windscreen, and rearview mirrors. Other parts like the entire instrument cluster, front rack, split seats, and rear rack have also been borrowed from the Himalayan. It appears that even the whole frame along with the suspension setup has been taken from the dual-purpose motorcycle.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Pine Green Right

It’s not just the Himalayan and the H’ness CB350 whose parts have been utilised here. Perhaps, to spice things up a little, the artist has gone ahead with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 front wheel with the rotor. The rear wheel looks like a customised part but wears a wide and dual-purpose tyre. Overall, the motorcycle in the rendering appears to be in proportion. It might not perform like either of the parent models, but it sure looks pretty interesting, doesn’t it?

What do you have to say about this Royal Enfield Himalayan and Honda H’ness CB350 amalgamation? Let us know your opinions in the comments section below.

The oldest continuous-production motorcycle manufacturer in the world has decided to shut down its plants in Chennai considering the ongoing health situation caused by the second wave of COVID-19.

Royal Enfield has announced that its manufacturing operations across Thiruvottiyur, Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal facilities will remain shut between Thursday, 13 May 2021 and Sunday, 16 May 2021. During this period, the company will undertake maintenance activities at its factories.

Royal Enfield has also said that considering the local lockdowns across states and Union Territories impacting retail operations, it does not foresee any significant impact of temporarily halting production on its ability to fulfil the demand. However, the company will continue to monitor the situation closely and take appropriate actions as the situation progresses; and in line with the directives being issued by the government and administrative authorities.

Royal Enfield teams are focused on ensuring support for employees and communities around its facilities. The company has issued advisories to all dealerships in India to adhere to local regulations and follow local administrative orders, as may apply. All other employees across Royal Enfield's offices, including corporate offices in Chennai and Gurgaon, continue to work from home until further notice.

Royal Enfield is not the only automobile company to shut down its manufacturing facilities in light of the second wave of the deadly coronavirus. Earlier this month, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) had also announced that it will temporarily halt the production operations across all its four manufacturing plants in the country (from 1st May to 15th May 2021).

In other news, expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia even further, Royal Enfield has started its operations in Singapore. It has set up a new flagship store at Ubi road.

Royal Enfield is expanding aggressively across Asia as it aims to tap into the world’s biggest motorcycle market after India. The company now operates in several countries in the region including Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. In Thailand, RE has 36 showrooms and plans to open a new factory which would be the second overseas plant for the company after its manufacturing facility in Argentina. Royal Enfield’s Thailand plant would be a hub for exports to other countries in Asia.

In the last few years, Royal Enfield has started its operations in several ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries including Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. With the brand’s major share of sales coming from India, which is the world’s biggest market for motorcycles, Royal Enfield will be increasingly looking to expand its presence in other strong motorcycle markets in the region.

In other news, Royal Enfield had filed a trademark application for the moniker “Royal Enfield Shotgun”. The application was submitted online in April 2021. While any further details about the same are unavailable at the moment, speculations say that the company could be planning to use this name for its upcoming 650cc Cruiser.

Watch US Rider Review Royal Enfield Himalayan - VIDEO https://indianautosblog.com/royal-enfield-himalayan-review-usa-rider-p323508 Wed, 12 May 2021 08:30:06 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323508 Royal Enfield is an international brand. Its motorcycles are available in several countries, including America. In the USA, the Chennai-based two-wheeler giant offers the INT 650, Continental GT, Meteor, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan. While the Himalayan is a popular bike in India, here’s what a US rider thinks about it.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan that we see in the above video is a rental motorcycle. It was two-month-old and had about 1400 miles (2250km approx) on its odometer when the rider rented it for four days. During this period, she rode the bike in the city, on highways, as well as on country and mountain roads. However, she didn’t cover any off-road tracks as the owner of the motorcycle had requested not to. Over four days, she clocked around 250 miles (400km approx) on the Himalayan and is now sharing her experience and what she thinks about the motorcycle.

Also Read: SG 411 - Custom Royal Enfield Himalayan Like None Other

The rider owns a Triumph Street Triple R (675), and coming from an inline 3-cylinder motorcycle to a single-cylinder machine, she finds the Royal Enfield Himalayan to be quite forgiving. When compared to her naked sportbike, the Himalayan's throttle responds with less urgency. While the dual-sport bike has got enough grunt to maintain decent highway speeds, it doesn’t like to be ridden hard, especially in the twisties.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Usa Cockpit

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a tall motorcycle. It has a good amount of ground clearance so that it can go over most of the obstacles one would encounter during off-road riding. Being a short person, the rider didn’t actually have any issues managing the motorcycle but she couldn’t keep both her feet down at the same time. She also talks about how the Himalayan would prove to be a comfortable bike for tall riders.

The rider tells that she has ridden a few single-cylinder motorcycles in the past, including a KTM 390 Duke, however, she finds the Royal Enfield Himalayan to be the most refined. The vibrations are contained but they do creep in onto the handlebars which can be felt after being on the saddle for a longer duration. She appreciates the wind protection that the stock windscreen offers and the onboard compass that’s located on the motorcycle’s instrument cluster.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Usa Left

In the USA, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in 6 colour options and costs USD 4,999 (INR 3.67 lakh). The company is yet to launch the updated model (with Tripper Navigation) in the country.

SG 411 - Custom Royal Enfield Himalayan Like None Other https://indianautosblog.com/sg-411-custom-royal-enfield-himalayan-p322966 Thu, 25 Mar 2021 05:15:42 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322966 We’ve seen a plethora of custom Royal Enfield Himalayan models in the past. Some were designed to improve the motorcycle’s off-road prowess, while others were tweaked to make the machine more touring-oriented. However, what we have here today is totally different. This is a custom Royal Enfield Himalayan like none other and it’s called the SG 411.

Custom Royal Enfield Himalayan Rear Right
This custom Himalayan has gone through a plethora of changes.

The SG 411 has been created by Smoked Garage which is a motorcycle customisation shop. As per the information available, it’s based in Jakarta, Indonesia. These guys have transformed a Royal Enfield Himalayan into an alien-looking motorcycle. So much customisation has gone into this project that if it wasn’t for the engine, one couldn’t even say that it’s a Himalayan.

While we wouldn’t be going through each and every custom part that has been fitted on this Royal Enfield Himalayan, we would be pointing out some of the key ones. For example, it seems that the entire frame has been redesigned to accommodate the gorgeous fuel tank and rear monoshock. We can see that the swingarm has been replaced as well. The SG 411 is a single-seater and has a minimal-looking rear end. What appears to be a couple of vertical metal plates are the taillights of the motorcycle.

Custom Royal Enfield Himalayan Rear Action
Perhaps, apart from the engine, everything else on this machine has been replaced.

Smoke Garage has also used adjustable USD front forks and a custom handlebar. The wheels seem to be new as well. They are running on really wide tyres that should be able to perform quite well in mild off-road conditions. For the stopping power, there is a pair of rotors up-front and a single one at the back. We think that the engine of this custom Royal Enfield Himalayan must have been kept in stock condition, however, there’s indeed an aftermarket free-flow exhaust slapped on.

The SG 411 is one badass custom Royal Enfield Himalayan. Is it a thumbs up or thumbs down for you guys? Let us know in the comments below and keep checking  IndianAutosBlog.com for more such interesting stories.

100 Royal Enfield Himalayan Bikes Sold in a Day in Kerala https://indianautosblog.com/royal-enfield-himalayan-kerala-p322649 Sat, 20 Feb 2021 05:00:16 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322649 The Royal Enfield Himalayan made its debut in 2016. Since then, the dual-sport motorcycle has been able to create a huge fan following all around the world. Yes, it had its own share of criticism during its initial days but over time it has proved its mettle.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan At Dealership

The 2021 model of the Himalayan has been launched recently. It was one of the highly awaited motorcycles of the year. To make things interesting, Royal Enfield has added a few new features and tweaked some parts. One of the biggest attractions of the 2021 Himalayan is the Tripper Navigation which was introduced in the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 last year. This system basically allows riders to connect their smartphones to it via Bluetooth and benefit from the turn-by-turn navigation details. It is powered by Google Maps and Royal Enfield app.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan enjoys a huge fan base in Kerala and the updated model with new colours and elements, and MIY (Make-It-Yours) customisation feature, has further enhanced the excitement levels of the customers in the state. No wonder why Royal Enfield has been able to sell 100 units of the Himalayan in a single day here!

Apart from the Tripper Navigation, the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with a redesigned windscreen that is tinted and a bit taller and wider. Also, it carries the company’s branding at the bottom. The company has also worked on the seat to enhance the overall comfort levels, especially during long-distance rides. Taking feedback from the customers, Royal Enfield has altered the design of the front rack. It is now smaller and also has a different shape. As a result, taller riders’ knees wouldn’t come in contact with it even while standing and riding. The rear rack has also been revised and can carry loads of up to 7kg.

The engine of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan remains the same - a 411cc single churning out 24.3 bhp of max power at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque in the 4000 to 4500 rpm range. For the transmission, there’s a 5-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield has also kept the suspension, brakes, tyres, and wheels untouched.

Interesting Royal Enfield Himalayan Touring Accessories to Check Out https://indianautosblog.com/royal-enfield-himalayan-touring-accessories-p322621 Wed, 17 Feb 2021 11:00:48 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322621 Even though the Royal Enfield Himalayan is a good adventure tourer, it can be made even a better one by adding some accessories. With an ocean of aftermarket parts available, riders might get confused as to what to pick and what to not. Well, we’ve come across an informative video that might be able to help you out a bit. It shows some interesting Royal Enfield Himalayan touring accessories that you should definitely check out.

The video has been uploaded by YouTuber Uncle Voodoo. We can see that the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the footage is carrying numerous accessories. To begin with, the owner has increased the height of the front fender by adding 10mm spacers. This should prevent mud/sludge from getting accumulated between the tyre and the fender. Moving on, there is a headlight grille in place to protect the headlamp from dirt and debris that one might encounter while riding off-road and on highways.

Also Read: New Royal Enfield Himalayan: What Makes it Better than Old Model?

Some riders have had reported that the stock windscreen of the Himalayan directs the wind right onto their helmets which becomes difficult to manage and could result in neckache. Perhaps, to solve that problem, a smaller windscreen has been installed here. Then we’ve got Barkbuster knuckle guards, a 12V charger socket, a USB charger socket, and a small receipt holder placed on the frame behind the triple tree.

Apart from that, we can also see a high-quality mobile holder with arrangements to damp out the vibrations. There are two large jerry cans mounted on the front rack. The stock rearview mirrors are swapped with aftermarket ones that offer better visibility behind and freedom of adjustment. The owner has also added a rear brake master cylinder protector. The taillamp appears to have been taken from either the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 or the Continental GT 650. The indicators are round in shape and add a retro look.

For the luggage, hard case panniers with their respective racks are fitted. The rear carrier is also new. It is much larger than the stock one and also appears to be much sturdier. It could carry a good amount of load, too.

By the way, Royal Enfield has recently launched the new Himalayan. This one above is the new Pine Green colour.

So these were some of the Royal Enfield Himalayan touring accessories that one should check out. Did you find anything useful for your motorcycle and needs? Let us know in the comments below. Also, if you have made any other modification to your Himalayan, do share with us that, too.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan: What Makes it Better than Old Model? https://indianautosblog.com/new-royal-enfield-himalayan-vs-old-model-p322612 Tue, 16 Feb 2021 13:45:05 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322612 Royal Enfield launched the new Himalayan last week. It wouldn’t be incorrect to say that it was one of the highly anticipated motorcycles of the year. It has a huge fan base, not just here in India but in several other countries as well. And the new model got its fans pretty excited. So, what makes the new Royal Enfield Himalayan better than the old model? Read on to find out.

New Useful & Practical Features

Royal Enfield has added a few new features and tweaked a few parts to enhance the overall ride and ownership experience of the Himalayan. The primary addition to the new model is the Tripper Navigation. It made its debut with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 that was launched in India last year.

Basically, it allows riders to connect their smartphones via Bluetooth and benefit from the turn-by-turn navigation details. This feature should, if not fully eliminate, reduce the usage of aftermarket mobile mounts for navigation purposes. Also, considering that many riders use the Himalayan for long-distance touring, the presence of an in-built navigation feature would certainly be beneficial. It would also come in handy even while commuting in the cities.

Royal Enfield has also redesigned the windscreen. It is slightly taller and also appears to be a bit wider to cover up the Tripper Navigation module. It is tinted and bears the company’s branding at the bottom. RE has also worked on the seat to make it more comfortable especially for long rides. The front rack has been redesigned so that taller riders don’t need to worry about their knees coming in contact with it, especially while standing and riding. Also, the rear carrier has been tweaked. It is now smaller and sits almost flush with the pillion seat. It can carry loads of up to 7kg.

New Colours

To keep things fresh in the aesthetics department, Royal Enfield has added 3 new colour options for the 2021 Himalayan. There’s a camouflage Pine Green, bold and masculine Granite Black, and beautiful and striking Mirage Silver. Apart from the new colour options, Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, and Rock Red paint schemes from the previous model have been carried over. So which one would you pick?

New Yet Old

Royal Enfield hasn’t really changed the rudimentary elements of the Himalayan. The updated model continues to draw power from the same 411cc single-cylinder engine which puts out 24.3 bhp of max power at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque in the 4000 to 4500 rpm range. Even the suspension setup, chassis, braking system, wheels as well as the tyres have been carried forward. It is being said that the motorcycle has been refined even further but we will have to ride it to comment on that.

Even though the mechanicals of the new Himalayan is almost the same as before, we think that the added features would make a difference and make the updated model a better overall package. We feel that people would appreciate the minor changes as they clock some miles on the odo.

These were the reasons which make the new Royal Enfield Himalayan better than the old model. What are your views about it? Let us know in the comments below.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Features Showcased in Walkaround Video https://indianautosblog.com/2021-royal-enfield-himalayan-features-walkaround-video-p322581 Fri, 12 Feb 2021 11:45:25 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322581 Royal Enfield has recently launched the new Himalayan in India. The already good motorcycle has been made even better with the addition of a few new features. What are they? The video below showcases all of them.

The video has been uploaded by YouTuber MSD Vlogs. It has been recorded at a Royal Enfield dealership. In focus is a brand-new Himalayan flaunting its beautiful Mirage Silver colour which bears a couple of dark grey stripes on the sides of the fuel tank. The side panels and both fenders of the motorcycle have the same shade of silver. RE has painted the exhaust heat shield black for contrast.

The new feature at the rear of the 2021 Himalayan is the revised carrier. It is smaller and now sits almost inline with the pillion seat. It also has a metal sheet on top. It has been designed to carry a load of up to 7kg. We wouldn’t be surprised to see several aftermarket accessories specifically designed for this updated rear carrier in the future.

Royal Enfield has also changed the seat in the new Himalayan for enhanced rider comfort allowing for non-stop, long-distance touring. Moving to the front, there’s a new smoked flyscreen which is a bit longer than that of the previous model. It also carries ‘Royal Enfield’ branding at the bottom. The front rack for carrying jerry cans have been tweaked as well. It is smaller and has a new shape. We doubt that the accessories and luggage options created for the previous Himalayan’s front rack would fit the new one.

The primary new feature of the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is the Tripper Navigation system. It was introduced with the Meteor 350 last year. Now, it has made its way to the new Himalayan and would be provided with future RE motorcycle as well. It is a Bluetooth-enabled system which allows riders to connect their smartphones and benefit from the turn-by-turn navigation details. When not being used for directions, it shows a digital clock.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Pine Green Colour Spied, to Launch Today https://indianautosblog.com/2021-royal-enfield-himalayan-pine-green-colour-spied-p322561 Thu, 11 Feb 2021 02:30:07 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322561 Thanks to the several spy shots, many details of the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan have come to light including its new colour options. While things will become official in a few hours from now when RE finally launches the new Himalayan, earlier reports tell us that the updated model would be available in 3 new paint schemes - Mirage Silver, Granite Black, and Pine Green.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Pine Green Spied
The Pine Green shade would be one of the three new colours of the 2021 Himalayan.

We recently reported about the Mirage Silver colour option of the upcoming Himalayan that was revealed via a bunch of spy shots. And now, we have come across a new spy picture that shows the Pine Green colour of the updated model which appears to be parked at a dealership’s warehouse.

What we can infer from the above spy image is that the Pine Green shade of the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan would have been created as a camouflage colour option for the customers. It features a light green base paint with dark green camo graphics on parts like the sides of the front fender and fuel tank and whole side panels. Most likely, this will be the only colour option in which the redesigned front rack for carrying jerry cans is not finished in black.

Apart from the three new colour options, Royal Enfield is expected to carry forward the Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, and Rock Red paint schemes from the Himalayan’s existing model. So, the new model would have a total of 6 colour options. Which one would you pick and why? Let us know in the comment section below.

Some of the other new features that would be included in the 2021 Himalayan include a newly designed windscreen, blacked-out headlight mask, revised rear rack, improved seat for enhanced comfort, and, of course, RE’s Tripper Navigation System.
